We have stayed here before. The food is excellent and very good friendly service. The rooms are tidy and clean and mainly met our need with comfortable beds and pleasant views of the countryside.
Dislikes:
The showers are fairly slow but there is a note to explain the antique nature of the plumbing. Access to the restaurant and bars is OK for wheelchair users but not the rooms.

The staff were friendly and helpful. The pub menu was excellent. There was a really happy atmosphere with a variety of people eating.. The room was comfortable and clean.
Dislikes:
The lighting in the room and bathroom made applying makeup difficult. The room would have been too small for more than one night. The carpets in the public rooms were dirty.

Lovely pub with a very friendly atmosphere. The food was excellent and we felt very well looked after. Our room was snug but sufficient for an overnight stay.
Dislikes:
My only criticism would our shower room in Blencathra room. It was clean but needed a freshen up.

Had a few days walking near Ullswater and Haweswater and this is a great place to return to at the end of the day. The staff are great, the food lovely and the beer is good. What more could you ask? This is my third visit to this pub/area in 10 months and I will be returning, hopefully, later this year. Read less

Guest Reviews

Overall rating: 4.5 out of 5
Each year I drive from London to Oban and back a few times to visit family. I usually stay in the Premier Inn at Lancaster on my way up and down, but fancied staying in an old pub this time (the restaurant at the Lancaster Premier Inn is poorly managed). I came across the Queen's Head on a quick Google and it had good reviews. I was made to feel very welcome when I arrived and when I dined with them. They have a fantastic local menu and it's very reasonably priced. I'll definitely stay again.
