"home from home"
we stayed for 4 nights and eat there twice nothing was to much trouble for the staff and the rooms were spotless with new carpets throughout and well heated with clean towels every day.The food was very good both morning and night and we managed to get a table for dinner even though the dinning room was full every night and it was well priced. We went up to Lowther for the world trail which was a wash out so to get back to the inn with its log fire and warm welcome was great and we will be back. "Excellent will be back"
We stayed at the Queens Head as members of my party weed taking part in Race the Sun. We arrived slightly earlier than our checking in time but this was not a problem as the rooms were ready. We had lunch on arrival and an evening meal on both nights of our stay and would recommend you to eat these as the food was excellent and good value for money. We had two young children within the party and they were catered for well as well as having things to keep them occupied eg nintendo WIi. Read less

A central location to visit other parts of the Lake District, with friendly staff. The room was cosy and clean, the staff very welcoming and the food was superb, with a varied menu.
Dislikes:
The ensuite had a Saniflo system installed. This would make a loud noise when any water is used and not just when the toilet is flushed, also when washing hands, brushing teeth and showering.

Good location close to M6 to continue journey North but far enough away from the noise. The food and atmosphere in the pub was very good with nice friendly staff
Dislikes:
The plumbing left a lot to be desired. The turbo flushing system was possibly the noisiest I have ever heard and must have woken up other guests after every flush
Response from Queens Head Inn:
Hi Stephen - many thanks for your review - both the positive and negative points - we appreciate your feedback . During our first year we have already sorted some of the plumbing issues in one end of this old building and realise there is still work to do to update the sani-flos ; unfortunately the building is listed and mains plumbling is impossible but we have plannned a winter of repairs as well as decoration upstairs. The bell is now in place!! and thanks again Jim & margaret

Travelled by train to Penrith got taxi to hotel about 6 miles away from town centre.
Friendly welcome on arrival went to pooley bridge next day walked it as no bus due about 2 and a half miles.
Would not recommend the road for walking it though be best taking longer scenic route along riverside.
Got bus back expensive for six minute bus journey.
But that aside fantastic stay at the queens head inn. Read less

Very friendly great food like a gastro pub clean and tidy dogs treat like any other guest.
Dislikes:
Unfortunatly it is a bit out of the way of main town and there is no other shops or pubs for 2 and a half miles and public transport not the best.
So own transport would be best.
